POSITION SUMMARY

Barton Malow is seeking a CAD Operator within our A/E Services team embedded with a client facility in Auburn Hills. This role is responsible for supporting the operations team by receiving and processing field data and transferring to CAD for drawing documentation throughout the project(s) life cycle.

 

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform advanced system-level troubleshooting, programming, and maintenance for Building Automation Systems (BAS), with expertise in Johnson Controls Metasys.
  • Support HVAC, lighting, and mission critical infrastructure, including Central Energy Plant utilities (chilled/hot water, compressed air, domestic water) and fire/smoke control systems.
  • Provide technical direction and hands-on support to skilled trades, facility engineers, and contractors; deliver on-site training as needed.
  • Design, program, and implement BAS upgrades, integrations, and system expansions for construction and renovation projects.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues escalated beyond the capabilities of trades or vendors.
  • Maintain and update as-built drawings, documentation, and technical libraries.
  • Monitor and analyze energy and utility usage data; implement BAS strategies for improved efficiency and cost savings.
  • Write and maintain low-level control software; perform routine backup, restore, and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Support system security functions, including automated alarm paging and access-related system configurations.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for troubleshooting and response to critical system events.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Minimum 3+ years of hands-on Building Automation Systems experience.
  • Proven expertise with Johnson Controls Metasys (required).
  • Technical/Engineering degree or equivalent applicable professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, central plant operations, and facility mechanical/electrical systems.
  • Experience with PLC integrations, networked control systems, and field-level device troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical/mechanical drawings, control schematics, P&IDs, and sequence of operations.
  • Proficiency in writing and modifying BAS control logic and low level equipment programming.
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills for resolving complex field issues.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to train or guide technicians, engineers, and contractors.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, upgrades, and system modifications concurrently.
  • Willingness to participate in 24/7 on-call rotation for critical system support
