POSITION SUMMARY
The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for planning, managing, and executing all electrical construction activities on project sites. This role ensures that work is completed safely, to high-quality standards, on schedule, on budget, and in alignment with contract requirements.The Electrical Superintendent will provide leadership to electrical teams and subcontractors, coordinate closely with engineering and other disciplines, and serve as the primary on‑site representative for all electrical scope execution.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promote and enforce Barton Malow’s Safety and Quality culture across all electrical work activities.
- Ensure all electrical installation practices follow regulatory requirements, utility standards, and industry best practices.
- Oversee installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, including MV/HV equipment, substations, inverters, switchgear, and related infrastructure.
- Support development of Electrical Installation Work Packages and Inspection & Test Plans.
- Provide technical guidance to electrical forepersons, journeypersons, and subcontractors.
- Participate in pre‑construction planning, including constructability reviews, schedule development, and material planning.
- Coordinate electrical activities with civil, mechanical, and structural teams to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to project sequencing.
- Work with utilities, AHJs, and permitting authorities to support electrical permit issuance, inspections, and approvals.
- Manage day-to-day on‑site electrical operations from Notice to Proceed through commissioning and turnover.
- Lead daily Plan‑of‑Day discussions for electrical work fronts and contribute to overall site coordination meetings.
- Resolve technical issues, construction conflicts, and field challenges promptly.
- Ensure daily reporting, progress updates, and schedule input are provided to the project team.
- Direct electrical crews, mentoring, and performance management of field personnel.
- Provide coaching and training to forepersons and lead hands to support their growth.
- Manage subcontractors’ performance, ensuring scope alignment, quality, and timely execution.
- Act as the primary on‑site representative for electrical scope, maintaining strong relationships with clients, utilities, inspectors, and partners.
- Support project closeout including punch lists, testing documentation, and turnover packages.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Electrical Journeyperson with 5–10 years of electrical construction experience.
- 5 years experience in a supervisory or superintendent role.
- Experience in energy, renewables, industrial, or utility electrical construction.
- Strong understanding of electrical codes, drawings, standards, and installation practices.
- Previous EPC project experience is an asset.
- Experience with substation or transmission line installation and commissioning is an asset.
- Willing and able to work on remote project sites for the duration of construction.
- Demonstrated ability to lead crews and subcontractors effectively.
- Strong commitment to safe work practices and safety leadership.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and digital field tools.
- Must be able to work on project site, and open to relocation for future projects.

- Base salary is $130,000 - $150,000, dependent on candidate job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
