ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:

Barton Malow Canada is an industrial contractor serving clients across Canada and a member of the Barton Malow family of companies. We deliver Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC), design-build, integrated project delivery, general contracting, and specialty contracting services across the renewable energy, automotive and electric vehicle, and industrial markets. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Project Coordinator supports the Project Manager in delivering civil, structural, and mechanical scopes for industrial and EPC projects. The role provides technical, administrative, and field coordination throughout the project lifecycle, with a focus on engineering documentation, construction planning, schedule and cost control, quality assurance, and project closeout.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate project meetings, including scheduling, agendas, meeting minutes, action items, and progress records.
  • Prepare, issue, track, and maintain RFIs, submittals, changes, and associated project logs.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and support consistent use of digital project management systems.
  • Coordinate project turnover and closeout, including as-built documentation, turnover packages, and required closeout records.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documentation for civil, structural, and mechanical scopes.
  • Develop and coordinate workface planning packages, installation work plans, and construction sequencing.
  • Monitor engineering and construction schedules, providing updates on progress, risks, constraints, and variances.
  • Identify and communicate technical issues, scope gaps, constructability concerns, and potential project risks.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify work against approved drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate subcontractor documentation and deliverables, including progress reporting and schedule updates.
  • Support site procurement and logistics, including material verification, requisitions, tracking, delivery coordination, and traceability.
  • Support project controls, including cost tracking, change-order forecasting, scope growth, and risk management.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly project reports for project leadership, internal stakeholders, and clients.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control activities, including project documentation, inspections, and audits.
  • Promote Barton Malow’s safety culture and comply with all project and jobsite safety requirements.
  • Mentor junior Project Coordinators, providing guidance on technical processes, documentation standards, project procedures, and engineering fundamentals.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Project Manager.

 

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in civil, structural, mechanical, construction, or engineering technology, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of progressive project coordination or construction experience, preferably on industrial, energy, or EPC projects.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating civil, structural, and mechanical construction scopes.
  • Working knowledge of project controls, construction scheduling, cost tracking, change management, procurement, and quality assurance processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documents.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and project records.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with project teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and digital construction or document-control platforms.
  • Commitment to safe work practices, quality standards, and project procedures.
  • Ability to work full time at the Skyview II BESS project site in Spencerville, Ontario, and travel between project work areas as required.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting junior project team members is considered an asset.
  • Experience with battery energy storage systems, renewable energy, or electrical infrastructure projects is considered an asset.

 

BENEFITS & COMPENSATION:

  • Base salary is $95,000 - $115,000, dependent on candidate job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
