Position: Assistant Superintendent

The Assistant Superintendent supervises and coordinates various contracts to ensure their contractors are fulfilled on schedule, in accordance with plans and specifications, which ensuring a quality product for the owner. This position oversees the construction effort to ensure the project is constructed safely in accordance with design, budget and schedule, manages the owner and subcontractor relationships and is responsible for directing and mentoring onsite staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares detailed and timely daily reports with assistance. Incorporates/reviews subcontractor’s daily reports for issues, coordination and claim avoidance.
- Assists with development of work scopes and front end documents for bidding to create clear and concise scopes of work
- Enforces corporate safety policies on jobsite, including pre-task safety planning and providing key responsibility for safety compliance in the field*
- Ensures project rules and procedures are maintained and checks progress and quality of work being performed*
- Observes and interfaces with contractors or trades to enforce responsibilities, monitor work performance and productivity, and coordinate project changes*
- Oversees completion of punchlist process*
- Assists with the supervision, coordination and sequencing of contractor’s work to minimize interference between various contractors on the project
- Assists with any commissioning activities
- Assists with Mechanical/Electrical overhead coordination or BIM process
- Enforces compliance with project schedule
- Assists with inspection process
- Participates in contractor coordination meetings
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or relevant field a plus.
- OSHA 30-Hour preferred.
- 3+ years' experience in construction industry
- Basic skills in MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer
- Basic skills in Bluebeam, Prolog, Box, P6, Navisworks*
- Basic knowledge of document control process; including processes related to drawing management, RFIs, submittals, issue tracking, punch list, commissioning & turnover.
- Demonstrated knowledge in construction principles, practices and methods, performance standards, environmental regulations, workplace safety, and union relations*
- Basic knowledge of regulations, codes, standards, and best practices*
- Basic ability to navigate, read and verify project drawings, specifications and submittals, with an understanding of architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings*
- Effective time management, organization skills and attention to detail. Ability to multi-task, prioritize activities and work under pressure.
- Ability to effectively communicate with all members of the team including contractors, architects and owners.*
- Basic understanding of critical path method of scheduling and how to develop durations and sequencing from design development level drawings and beyond; ability to coordinate means and methods to expedite schedules and reduce costs*
- Knowledge of difference between costs carried in trades versus general conditions
- Basic knowledge of trade work that the company can self-perform and how to support its use on the project
