We’re seeking an experienced Quality Engineer / Quality Manager to support a significant project in Dayton, Ohio and help uphold our high standards for construction excellence.

This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining the project’s quality program, ensuring compliance with Barton Malow standards as well as project specifications, codes, and contract documents. The ideal candidate has strong construction knowledge, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate closely with project teams, subcontractors, and vendors to drive consistent quality throughout all phases of construction.

 

Key Responsibilities

Quality Program Management

  • Maintain and enforce the project’s quality control program in alignment with the Barton Malow Quality Manual, project specifications, codes, and contract requirements.
  • Review, evaluate, and approve subcontractor quality plans, inspection and test procedures, and personnel qualifications.
  • Ensure required inspections and testing are executed and properly documented.

Inspection Oversight & Nonconformance Management

  • Establish appropriate “witness” and “hold” points for inspections based on project needs.
  • Identify nonconforming work and manage corrective actions, including stopwork authority, resolution planning, and verification of completed corrective measures.
  • Coordinate qualified thirdparty testing laboratories and inspection agencies when required.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Collect, track, and maintain all quality records, including testing logs, inspection reports, receiving inspections, vendor inspections, corrective actions, and other KPIs.
  • Prepare and submit monthly quality reports summarizing key metrics and performance trends.
  • Assist with documentation and processes related to equipment/system startup and safety verification.

Project Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Project Manager and field teams to address quality issues, resolve discrepancies, and support continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and vendors to ensure understanding of project quality requirements.
  • Support preconstruction and early planning activities related to quality expectations and compliance.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of construction industry experience;
    QA/QC experience strongly preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of construction inspection, testing processes, and industry standards.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work across diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort with digital documentation workflows.
