POSITION SUMMARY

This position receives guidance from senior VDC Engineers and VDC Managers, but performs essential duties and responsibilities independently.  The VDC Engineer provides technical support, documents best methods, and provides training.  The VDC Engineer may have some project responsibilities.  The VDC Engineer must be a flexible and adaptable team-player, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.  Roles with VDC vary depending on the department, regional needs and experience.  This role may require up to 50% travel.  The VDC Engineer has varying levels of authority depending on the impact their decision-making may have on the organization, including the authority to interpret and influence policies and operating practices. 

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Can communicate VDC purpose, standards, and follow in line with proper pursuit and project engagement techniques (AKA VDC Enablement vs Production) with assistance from manager; Delivers formal and jobsite specific training: onsite, just in time, e-learning, instructor-led, and webinar, as required to Barton Malow team members, subcontractors, Architects, and Owners
  • With some guidance, can set up, assist and/or provide technical and process related support for Box, Bluebeam, BIM360, Autodesk Build, model Quantity Take-Off, Site Logistics Planning, Reality Capture, and other VDC supported systems as required.
  • Has some exposure to 4D modeling, 3D Clash Detection, Model QA/QC, Navisworks Manage, AutoCad, and Revit
  • This applies to Self-Perform VDC: Creates quality models in native authoring software with limited support from more senior modelers; Records quantities and provides reporting from software; Assists with Barton Malow systems packaging process and setup
  • Participates in software testing for new releases of existing and new software
  • Understands the general use and language contained in a BIM Execution Plan, 013700, and AE BIM Guidelines
