POSITION SUMMARY
Barton Malow Company is seeking a Temporary Construction Manager (Self-Perform/Steel) to support a multi-level precast concrete structure installation beginning in February and finishing in August. This role includes oversight of self-perform steel activities, structural precast installation, and coordination with the broader project team. The position requires travel and flexibility to work where project needs arise.
The Construction Manager will lead field operations, manage progress reporting, coordinate with clients, and ensure adherence to the project schedule, budget, safety standards, and quality expectations. The individual will work closely with architects, engineers, erectors, electricians, and key stakeholders to drive successful project completion. Responsibilities include risk management, insurance coordination, general work performance oversight, and maintaining consistent communication with both owners and team members.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Precast/Steel & Self-Perform Oversight

- Manage installation of multi-level precast concrete structures and self-perform steel operations.
- Serve as a PCI-certified Field Auditor to conduct Category S2 Complex Structural System field audits.
- Produce Erector’s Post-Audit Declarations in accordance with PCI MNL-127.
- Project & Construction Management
- Facilitate coordination meetings with the project team from preconstruction through close-out, ensuring effective, consistent communication.
- Oversee procurement and bidding strategies; develop scopes of work, lead pre-bid meetings, and evaluate bids.
- Initiate project scheduling, jobsite setup, mobilization planning, and permit management.
- Manage the general conditions budget, cash flow, and project cost monitoring to ensure financial performance.
- Assist the Superintendent with owner issues and subcontractor coordination, enforcing requirements outlined in owner agreements.
- Coordinate company personnel and resources, supervise jobsite staff, and ensure adherence to schedule requirements.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and internal Barton Malow teams.
- Administer the financial aspects of owner contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering, with relevant structural, industrial, or data-center-related project experience.
- 5+ years of relevant construction experience, including industrial or structural steel/precast projects.
- PCI Field Auditor certification and ability to perform Category S2 audits (preferred or required based on final role definition).
- Excellent organizational skills and a strong understanding of applicable contracts, construction law, and quality standards.
- Ability to manage and embrace change, adapting to new processes and perspectives.
- Proven multitasking ability with strong customer-relationship management skills.
- Strong trade partner management skills to ensure compliance with Barton Malow quality standards.
- High sense of urgency with the ability to quickly assess issues and resolve conflicts fairly and effectively.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
