POSITION SUMMARY

Barton Malow Company is currently seeking a Yard Laborer to join our Oak Park Yard Operations team. This position is responsible for supporting a safe environment and workplace, prepping/staging tools, equipment for delivery, tracking and supporting delivery processes, managing & organizing inventories, identifying tools and equipment requiring repairs and providing top level customer service for our field construction teams.  This individual will be responsible for making sure all tools and small equipment leaves the yard in job ready condition and meets Barton Malow appearance requirements.  


KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Operate fork truck to load and unload semi-trailers.
  • Organize and inventory concrete panels.
  • Inspection and cleaning of concrete formwork.
  • Make sure equipment is staged / stored in the correct area and the check-out process is completed.
  • Make sure equipment and tools returned from a jobsite are inspected and the check in process is completed.
  • Inspect tools, equipment, and safety equipment for visible defects.
  • Ensure that tools and equipment with verification/certification requirements have the updated tag on the item and certification documents.
  • Make sure all tools and equipment in the shop’s inventory have either red or yellow tags attached.
  • Inventory all returning tools from jobsites and inform equipment/tool manager of any damaged or missing tools.
  • Be able to perform minor repairs on tools and equipment returned from jobsites.
  • Make sure the yard area is organized and structured.
  • Returned gang boxes and container boxes are emptied, cleaned and ready for next jobsite use.
  • Make sure the tool and consumable area is clear of trash and debris.
  • Make sure inside trash containers are emptied when appropriate.
  • Tools and equipment to be staged for early morning deliveries.
  • Provide assistance in the inventory of tools, equipment, consumables and parts.
  • Provide assistance to other yard operations when requested.

 


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Must be able to operate lift trucks. Training provided.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs. and work outside.
  • Work experience in the construction trades and/or knowledge of small equipment and construction tools including capabilities and applications of tools and small equipment preferred.
