Position: Small Equipment Mechanic

Barton Malow's Yard operation is seeking a self-motivated Mechanic who is looking for a challenge. The main function of this position is to make sure all small equipment is in job ready condition.  Must be able to troubleshoot issues and perform the most economical repairs in a safe and timely manner. The Yard provides room for growth within our large Construction operations into Heavy Equipment and Logistics.

 

  • To the best of your ability, solve the service issue at the lowest possible cost.
  • Check your repairs to make sure the unit is in jobsite ready condition.
  • Make sure work orders are completed and turn in on a timely manner.
  • Work in a safe manner utilizing safety devices.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Chauffeur license required to drive company vehicles.
  • Must have welding and burning ability.
  • Basic working knowledge of equipment with the ability to service and repair;
    • Two- and Four-cycle engines.
    • Gas, Diesel and Propane engines.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and repair drive systems
    • Ability repair, adjust and rebuild fuel systems.
    • Preform tune-ups and oil changes.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical issues.
    • Ability to work on different exhaust systems.
    • Repair hydraulic pumps and motors.
  • Must work in a safe manner while working in the shop and handling power tools.
  • Make sure all safety decals / labels and operating manuals are located on equipment.
  • Be able to handle a field service call and make the repair or make a replacement decision with the goal of getting the jobsite back up and running in a short period of time.

 

Education

 

Minimum High School Diploma with small engine repair knowledge.

 

Experience

 

Willing to train, but 2-5 years mechanic experience preferred
