POSITION SUMMARY:

The Estimator has knowledge or prolonged learning in estimating, engineering, or similar fields of education. The Estimator must be a flexible and adaptable team player, as well as have communication and client service skills. This position receives guidance from Senior Estimators or Precon Managers but performs essential duties and responsibilities independently.    

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Interacts and effectively communicates with team members
• Participates in authoring select work scopes
• Grows and maintains strong network of owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors and vendors

• Understands Value Engineering/Value Management process and relation to/impact on multiple building components
• Participates in design meetings and assists with overall project coordination/schedule

• Participates, and/or may lead estimating efforts for all size projects at all stages (Concept, Schematic Design, Design Development, etc.) and lump sum bid projects for majority of Barton Malow Builders business plan markets

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent professional experience
• 5+ years’ experience in construction estimating preferred
• Experience in developing and implementing value engineering solutions to drive down project costs for the Owner while maintaining a high level of construction quality.
• Working knowledge of trades: scope, time frames, field execution and potential risks/exposures
• Demonstrated understanding and knowledge about estimating processes and delivery method
• This position is project based
