Position Summary

Barton Malow Builders is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join our mission critical and data center team in Philadelphia, PA. This is a full-time, onsite position. The ideal candidate brings 2+ years of experience in building systems commissioning, with a background in mission critical or data center environments strongly preferred.

As a Commissioning Engineer, you will play a central role in ensuring that major building systems are turned over accurately, on schedule, and in full compliance with client and Barton Malow standards. You will work closely with project teams, clients, and commissioning leads to execute schedules, validate documentation, manage punch lists, and support a smooth path to system turnover.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure major components for turnover and completion are transitioned in a timely and organized manner.
  • Verify that turnover is in compliance with client and Barton Malow policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Execute and monitor the compilation of commissioning turnover documentation deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain commissioning system turnover definitions and schedules.
  • Integrate with the project scheduling team to ensure timely commissioning and documentation for system turnover.
  • Manage commissioning completion punch lists and ensure timely resolution of all outstanding work and turnover documentation.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports detailing the status of commissioning for components and systems.
  • Interpret and clarify system scoping and numbering as needed.
  • Compile turnover documentation for inclusion in the turnover dossier.
  • Ensure required training is planned and executed per contract documents.
  • Liaise with the client to ensure satisfaction based on contractual requirements.

 

Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in commissioning, building systems, or a related field.
  • Experience in mission critical or data center environments is strongly preferred.
  • A degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or construction management is preferred.
  • Familiarity with commissioning software such as CxAlloy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Procore, and Bluebeam.
  • Understanding of QA/QC documentation, turnover processes, systems, drawings, and diagrams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong technical and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

 

Work Environment

This is a full-time onsite position near Philadelphia, PA.
