Position Summary

Barton Malow is seeking a Security and Electrical Project Engineer for a mission critical project near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is a full-time, on-site role based at the jobsite.

This role supports the electronic security and low-voltage scope on a secure facility, including access control, closed circuit television, intrusion detection, and the associated power and pathway infrastructure. The work is unforgiving in one specific way: conduit, pathways, and rough-in have to be right the first time. Once slabs are poured and walls are closed, a missed pathway or an undersized run becomes an expensive, visible problem.

The Security and Electrical Project Engineer is the coordination point between the security integrator, the electrical contractor, the information technology team, and the structural trades. The role also carries real responsibility for how sensitive information is handled. Device locations, camera coverage, and system architecture on a secure facility are controlled information, and this position is expected to treat them that way.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Supports the electronic security and low-voltage package, including access control, closed circuit television, intrusion detection, and related systems.
• Reviews security device layouts against electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and pathway design, confirming power availability, circuit capacity, and backup power provisions for each device type.
• Coordinates conduit, pathway, and rough-in requirements with the electrical, information technology, and structural trades, verifying routing, sleeves, penetrations, box locations, and backing before concrete is placed or walls are closed.
• Manages submittals, requests for information, and shop drawing review for the security and low-voltage scope, holding turnaround discipline so the field is never waiting.
• Tracks device counts, head-end equipment, and long lead security components against the procurement and installation schedule.
• Coordinates with the owner's security team and integrator on system architecture, credentialing requirements, and commissioning of security systems.
• Supports startup, testing, and commissioning documentation for security systems, including point-to-point verification, device testing records, and issue log closure.
• Maintains document control for the package, including current drawing sets, revisions, and as-built markups.
• Handles controlled and sensitive project information in accordance with the owner's confidentiality, drawing distribution, and site security requirements.
• Assists with quality documentation, subcontractor coordination, meeting minutes, and follow-up on open action items.
• Supports project closeout, including operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, training records, and final as-built documentation.
• Builds effective working relationships with the owner, integrator, design team, trade partners, and Barton Malow team members.

Required Knowledge, Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, electrical engineering, electrical technology, or a related field, or equivalent field experience.
• Working knowledge of access control, closed circuit television, intrusion detection, and low-voltage systems.
• Electrical fundamentals. Able to follow one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and conduit and pathway design, and speak to power requirements for security devices.
• Able to coordinate security scope with the electrical, information technology, and structural trades, recognizing that conduit, pathways, and rough-in have to be right the first time.
• Understands the documentation and confidentiality expectations that come with work on a secure facility.
• Solid on submittals, requests for information, and shop drawing coordination, with real turnaround discipline.
• Detail-driven and organized under volume, keeping device logs, submittal logs, and coordination records current without being chased.
• Proficiency with construction management and document control platforms, drawing markup software, and Microsoft Office.
• Clear written and verbal communication with the design team, integrator, trade partners, and the project team.
• A strong sense of urgency and ownership, with the initiative to verify a rough-in condition in the field rather than assume it.

Work Environment

• This is an on-site position. Full-time presence at the jobsite near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is required.
• Work on a secure facility. The successful candidate must be able to satisfy the owner's site access, background screening, and confidentiality requirements.
• Regular work in an active construction environment, including exposure to weather, noise, energized equipment areas, and uneven terrain, with required personal protective equipment.
