POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Human Resource Business Partner provides first level leadership in executing HR strategies and initiatives within designated business units. This role focuses on  day-to-day HR operations, employee relations, talent management, and fostering a positive organizational culture.

 

This position works collaboratively with HR and leadership to execute people and culture and talent strategies. The scope of this role will include supporting the ongoing development and execution of human resources initiatives in support of a systematic approach to talent management across a broad range of human resources functions including talent acquisition, team member engagement, performance management, total rewards, learning, and career development, succession planning, team member compensation and diversity, equity and inclusion.

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*:

  • Assist in implementing HR policies, programs, and services within the business unit.
  • Provide guidance to employees and managers on HR-related matters (e.g., employee relations, performance management).
  • Support the recruitment and onboarding processes. Works collaboratively with HR and Business Unit team(s) to manage staffing and source talent both inside and outside the organization and to operationize talent mobility.
  • Consults on performance management and employee development activities.
  • Support organizational change and improvement initiatives.
  • Works closely with Business Unit team(s) and team members to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. Establishes and maintains relationships with key partner groups to understand their business needs, ensure alignment on objectives, and ensure ongoing buy-in across all project activities
  • Manages and resolves first-level employee relations issues, including conducting effective, thorough, and objective investigations; advises team(s) regarding all adverse employment actions
  • Partners with HR and Business Unit team(s) to manage career development/succession planning process; ensures career goals and practices align individual performance with operational and company-wide values, plans, and objectives; serves as the liaison for individual development and plans
  • Assists with implementing HR initiatives and special projects.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR and Business team(s) and assists in developing solutions, programs, policies, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage staffing inside of business unit including recruiting when positions can not be filled internally.
  • Open to travel 20%-50% to office site location 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive HR Business Partner/Manager experience
  • Experience working in construction or a related industry is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with senior level executives
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
  • Proven ability to influence and build relationships with senior leaders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in talent management, organizational development, and change management.
  • HR Certification (e.g. SHRM-SCP, SPHR) is a plus.
