Position: Cost Analyst
Location: Southfield, MI
POSITION SUMMARY
The Cost Analyst supports project teams by analyzing cost and revenue data to deliver timely, reliable financial information that drives decision-making for project management, business units, and the organization as a whole. This role calls for a flexible, adaptable team player with strong analytical, communication, and client service skills.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze the financial status of construction projects to measure profitability, manage risk, and support project planning and decision-making.
- Support project start-up by identifying financial deliverables and developing the baseline budget.
- Actively participate in the change management and monthly forecasting processes, identifying risk and opportunity through in-depth review.
- Balance project financials with accurate accruals and cash management, maintaining awareness of accounts payable and receivable.
- Support external customer requirements such as owner reporting, subcontractor challenges, and joint venture reporting.
- Collaborate with project personnel and owners to prepare required internal and external project reports.
- Provide oversight for compliance with Barton Malow best practices, policies, and procedures, including internal audit support.
- Complete ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience with Bluebeam, Clearstory, Box, Textura, and SAP
- Advanced math and accounting skills, with the ability to analyze large, disparate data sets and reach sound conclusions
- Ability to effectively communicate with all members of the team, including contractors, architects, and owners*
- Strong time management, organization, and attention to detail, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize under pressure
- Results-oriented self-starter with a proactive approach
- Relevant understanding of construction management principles and processes
- Ability to work on-site and/or in the office
