POSITION SUMMARY

Barton Malow is seeking an experienced Director of Software Engineering to lead our engineering teams and drive the development of our software platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building scalable software solutions, extensive experience with AWS, and a proven track record of leading and mentoring engineering teams.

 


KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Lead and manage multiple engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
  •  Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of our software and data platforms
  •  Define and implement technical strategies aligned with business objectives
  •  Collaborate with product management to prioritize and deliver features
  •  Ensure best practices in software development, including code quality, testing, and deployment
  •  Manage AWS infrastructure and optimize cloud-based solutions
  •  Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and methodologies
  •  Mentor and develop engineering talent, promoting career growth within the organization

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in leadership roles
  • Proven experience building and scaling software platforms
  • Strong expertise in AWS services and cloud architecture
  • Experience leading and managing distributed engineering teams including matrix positions
  • Excellent understanding of software development methodologies and best practices
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field (master's preferred)
  • Associates/ Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices (Jira experience a plus)
  • Knowledge of data engineering and data architecture in AWS
  • Experience with multiple programming languages and frameworks
