Barton Malow is seeking a Business Intelligence and Analytics Manager to lead the design, delivery, and adoption of enterprise analytics across the organization. This role combines principal-level individual contribution with strategic leadership—you will architect analytics solutions in Power BI and Databricks while partnering closely with business leaders, the data governance council, and technical teams to shape how data is used to drive decisions.

You will be hands-on in the modern data stack, building curated datasets, semantic models, and dashboards that set the standard for clarity, performance, and business relevance. You'll work with data unique to construction—project cost tracking, safety metrics, and schedule performance—requiring you to quickly learn our business context. At the same time, you’ll play a key role in scaling analytics capability through training, documentation, and mentorship, positioning the function for future team growth. This is an individual contributor role with significant influence—you'll lead through expertise, training, and cross-functional partnership rather than direct reports.

What You'll Do

Analytics + Storytelling

  • Build sophisticated Power BI reports and dashboards that transform complex construction data into clear, actionable stories for operational teams
  • Model data across bronze, silver, and gold tiers in Databricks—cleaning and structuring raw source data, creating curated business entities, and building analytics-ready datasets optimized for Power BI performance and business intelligence.
  • Apply data visualization best practices and storytelling principles to create intuitive, executive-ready dashboards
  • Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to ensure data quality, analytical rigor, and alignment with business requirements

Stakeholder Engagement + Governance

  • Serve as a strategic partner to the Data Governance Manager, establishing and maintaining analytics standards, data quality practices, and reporting frameworks
  • Build trusted relationships with Business Stewards and operational leaders, translating their business challenges into data-driven solutions
  • Manage analytics project portfolios, balancing competing priorities and communicating progress to stakeholders

Training + Enablement

  • Design and deliver training programs on Power BI report consumption, creation, and best practices for diverse user groups
  • Develop comprehensive documentation, training materials, and best practice guides that scale knowledge across the organization
  • Mentor team members and business users, developing their analytical capabilities and data literacy
  • Champion a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous learning throughout the organization
  • Establish analytics best practices, coding standards, and documentation frameworks

What You Bring

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or related roles with demonstrated technical depth and business impact
  • Expert-level proficiency in Power BI, including advanced DAX, complex data modeling, performance optimization, dataflows, and dataset management
  • Advanced SQL skills for complex querying, data transformation, and analysis
  • Experience designing and implementing data models in modern data Lakehouse platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, or similar), including working within a bronze/silver/gold medallion architecture, dimensional modeling, and ETL/ELT workflows
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated expertise in data storytelling and visualization design principles
  • Track record of managing analytics projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Experience training and mentoring others, with ability to tailor communication to different technical skill levels

Strongly Preferred

  • Preferred experience in construction, engineering, or project-based industries with understanding of construction workflows, terminology, processes, and industry trends
  • Experience with Databricks (SQL and Python notebooks) or similar modern data platforms
  • Understanding of Git workflows, CI/CD practices, and modern development methodologies
  • Experience leveraging AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) to enhance productivity and analytical capabilities
  • Previous people management, team leadership, or formal mentorship experience
