Position Summary

Barton Malow is seeking an Assistant Superintendent for a hyperscale data center project in Sterling, VA. This role requires a commitment to working on the project site at least five days a week, and the ability to travel as needed. The Assistant Superintendent supports the successful completion of assigned projects in collaboration with the on-site project team, and helps drive jobsite safety, quality control, and project scheduling. The role involves evaluating project performance, assessing site conditions, ensuring compliance with scopes, and working closely with trade partners to achieve project goals.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Assists in developing work scopes and front-end documents for bidding so they are clear, participates in the bid process (including post-bid interviews and bidder questions), and identifies potential contractors based on project requirements.
• Enforces corporate safety policies on the jobsite, including pre-task safety planning, and is responsible for safety compliance in the field.
• Organizes and manages the day-to-day on-site labor force, supervising and coordinating contractor work to minimize interference.
• Supports the Project Manager with budget management and forecasting by controlling costs and monitoring potential changes from contractors.
• Develops site logistics plans that maximize productivity on a large-scale, fast-paced mission critical campus.
• Establishes and implements the project baseline schedule, incorporating input from subcontractors and considering factors that could affect timing.
• Leads pull planning efforts and provides progress reports with a six-week look-ahead schedule to Project Managers and field staff.
• Communicates daily issues, events, performance, and progress to Project Managers while building strong relationships with clients, team members, trade partners, and relevant authorities.

Required Knowledge, Education, Experience, Skills + Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering.
• 3+ years of documented mission critical data center experience from inception to completion.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with a strong understanding of applicable contracts and legal provisions.
• Ability to manage and embrace change, adapting to new processes and fresh perspectives on traditional challenges.
• Ability to multitask and balance competing priorities between project delivery and the non-critical review of incomplete assignments, while maintaining excellent customer relationships.
• A strong sense of urgency and the ability to quickly assess and resolve complex issues effectively and fairly.
