Overview

The Business Strategy Leader is responsible for identifying Strategic Clients along with Strategic and Priority Opportunities that directly impact Barton Malow’s bottom line through earnings potential, market exposure, geography alignment, and future repeat business. This individual will develop and lead strategies both internally with project teams and externally with partners, to contribute to the client relationship journey and help Barton Malow achieve targeted goals as outlined in the business model. It is beneficial for our Business Strategy Leader to have experience beyond sales, a background in project delivery, estimating and/or project planning lends a better understanding of projecting a financial understanding of our work and to build relationships with key clients and speak to our services.

 

The Business Strategy Leader for our Tampa office should have a strong understanding of the Tampa area, local networks, and surrounding markets.
 

Responsibilities

  • Assists with market intelligence and research that will contribute to identifying potential strategic clients/pursuits for review and consideration by the assigned office(s)/leader(s).
  • Builds internal and external relationships with key clients and partners in assigned office(s)/market(s).
  • In collaboration with the team, leads the development and implementation of a capture plan and win strategy to help position Barton Malow Builders for success with each opportunity.
  • Leads efforts in pre-selling and pursuit management in partnership with leaders and business partners by developing a strategic approach based on market research, business environment, sales/earnings model, and anticipated industry needs.
  • Support the annual development and reporting of the FY business model/plan sales for the respective office(s)/market(s). Understand forecasted financials, identify gaps in pipeline and create strategy/plan to build backlog.
  • Actively generates and tracks customer feedback to ensure smooth transitions from pursuit to preconstruction into delivery. 
  • Ensures the accuracy of pipeline and opportunities using Barton Malow Systems and Standard Practices and provides frequent internal reporting to track key performance metrics and foster team alignment and support.
  • Leads and supports the pursuit process in coordination with planning/preconstruction, marketing and project delivery through qualifications, proposals and presentations.
  • At times, support Priority and Strategic pursuits throughout the Southeast, South and Central region, some travel may be required.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, Construction Management, Architecture or related degree
  • Experience in preconstruction/estimating and planning and/or project delivery
  • At least 3+ years of experience successfully leading a sales team, strategic efforts a focus in healthcare, higher education, commercial and/or aerospace markets is preferable
  • Proven built relationships in the field of construction and/or architecture/engineering
  • Ability to write content, direct messaging and coordinate pursuit teams
  • Excellent business and financial acumen, understanding of CRM systems and alignment with financial reporting, meeting business plan metrics and goals
